A good friend of The Florida Chapter, Dr. Paul E. Rosene of Orlando, Florida has written the definitive book, Special Effects for Handchimes. Since the use of handchimes, both as a “stand alone” ensemble and also with handbells is so widespread, there was a need to educate handbell directors on how to interpret “thumb damp,” “table vibrato,” and other special effects found in the music. Dr. Rosene is Professor Emeritus of Illinois State University, and an authority on the use of handbells and handchimes. He is widely used as clinician, conductor, and consultant. Special Effects for Handchimes can be obtained at Jeffers Handbell Supply, Inc. www.handbellworld.com
